This Week: Getting Through What’s Ahead

Today in my InBox was the monthly newsletter of my friend and Vedic (Indian) astrologer, James Kelleher.  As described in my video back in July, Vedic astrology seeks not to predict “the future” but only to point out tendencies of cycles in our lives based on the interaction of the energy of the planets.  Today, James wrote about not reacting to life’s ups and downs but going through them with what he called, “equanimity”.

He told the story of the Hindu God Siva who was challenged to go through an adverse phase of the planets without reacting in any way. In the mythological story, even the great Siva was not able to do so, as he so concentrated on not being affected that he was, indeed, very affected.

And so I look at life and its joys and sorrows, wins and losses, in this way:  everything is simply and experience to have.  Good, bad or indifferent we are all becoming what we are to become as a result of the experiences we are having.

It’s not what happens, it’s the way we move through what happens that accrues to our beingness, our lives, our “karma”.
