How My Brain Immediately Mapped a Fearful Event

This afternoon I was driving my car like I have a thousand times before, but this time something happened that had never happened before:  the car stopped running and still kept moving down the road!  I lost steering and brakes, but was luckily able to maneuver it to the side of the road to safety.  What was so interesting to me was how quickly my brain took that one event, and made it something that I kept reliving, like a movie in my head over and over.  Not only that, I immediately became afraid to drive the car again, terrified that the same thing would happen.
